FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MISSION, B.C. – Member of Parliament, Brad Vis, congratulates 28-year former Mayor John Ranta of the Village of Cache as this year’s recipient of the B.C. Achievement Community Award.

Throughout the course of nearly three decades of service, Mr. Ranta continuously demonstrated his dedication to the residents of Cache Creek, and indeed surrounding communities as former President of the Union of B.C. Municipalities and Chair of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.

The former Mayor’s commitment to financial stewardship, ensuring taxes remained low and clearing the Village of all debt is to be commended. His work to create the Landfill Legacy Fund has also led to innovations that will ensure better outcomes for families in our community for years to come.

MP Vis thanks Mr. Ranta for his strong leadership in the face of some of B.C.’s largest wildfires and floods during his tenure and congratulates him on the very well-deserved award.
