Dear Constituents, an update from my office:

In the Riding

It has been amazing getting out across Mission—Matsqui—Fraser Canyon this summer to connect with constituents, business owners, community organizations and many more of you.

Last week, I visited Shackan First Nation and farmers and ranchers who were affected by the recent mudslides along the Merritt-Spences Bridge Highway 8. Last year's fires left the soil hydrophobic, leaving the area very vulnerable and ultimately led to the recent mudslides. A big thanks to Shackan First Nation for their hospitality and keeping me informed!

I visited Boston Bar and North Bend last week and joined residents for a town hall. I was thrilled to see such a large turnout and it was great to join MLA Jackie Tegart and Fraser Valley Regional District Representative for Electoral Area A Diane Johnson. Railway safety was the biggest concern addressed. This fall, I will be launching a petition on railway safety in response to what I heard!

This week I will be visiting the Bridge River Valley. I look forward to connecting with the Bridge River Community Association, volunteer firefighters, Tsal’alh First Nation and many more.

Public Hearings on Electoral Redistribution

Firstly, a quick reminder that the Electoral Boundaries Commission for British Columbia is holding several public hearings across the province in September to collect feedback on their proposed new electoral map. This is the public’s opportunity to voice any concerns and help shape the B.C.’s federal electoral districts.

You can find the Commission’s proposed boundaries here.

While none of the Commission’s scheduled public hearings are within Mission—Matsqui—Fraser Canyon, there are some in nearby communities listed below. For the full list of dates and locations, click here. You must register to participate here.

Fall Priorities

As the summer draws to a close and the fall session of Parliament nears, here are some of my key priorities.

Fraser River salmon and habitat conservation

  • Preserving the mighty Fraser River and its incredible ecosystem has been one of my top priorities since being elected.

Pressing for meaningful action to address the inflation crisis.

  • Inflation is hurting everyone. The cost of living has skyrocketed this year and Canadians need relief. My Conservative colleagues and I will continue to present real solutions to this crisis.

Continued advocacy on disaster recovery.

  • 2021 was a tough year for our riding. Two natural disasters devastated much of Mission—Matsqui—Fraser Canyon. Since last summer, I have tirelessly pushed the Federal Government to do all it can to support those impacted by the fires and floods. This fall, I will continue to push for timely and effective delivery of recovery support.

Let me know your thoughts on these priorities here.

Hearing From You

With the ongoing review of Canada’s legislation on Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD), I wanted to hear from you. In all, 168 people responded to this survey and I have included the results below. Thank you to everyone who took part.

Something Not Political

I recently hiked Needle Peak with my old friend Jesse Weganist. The views of Canada’s #1 riding were breathtaking from the top!
