OTTAWA, ON – Luc Berthold, Conservative Shadow Minister for Treasury Board, released the following statement regarding the scathing report from the Information Commissioner:
 
“The Liberals have failed to be transparent with Canadians, especially during this pandemic.
 
“The report released by the Information Commissioner shows that the access to information system was in a critical state before the pandemic. Now, it may be beyond repair. When it comes to this important democratic tool, the Liberals need to do better.
 
“Justin Trudeau has repeatedly promised that he would improve Canada’s access to information system. The reality is that he has failed to do so. This is just another example of the Liberals over promising and under delivering.
 
“The report also highlights a lack of leadership from the Trudeau government when it comes to the access to information system. It’s not surprising that there is a lack of leadership from the Liberals when it comes to transparency.
 
“Canada’s access to information regime needs an urgent fix. Improving this key tool will help improve our democracy. It will also help more Canadians have faith in our democratic systems. Conservatives will continue to push for more transparency from the Trudeau Liberals.”

du gouvernement Trudeau

OTTAWA (Ontario) – Luc Berthold, le ministre du Cabinet fantôme conservateur responsable du Conseil du Trésor, a fait la déclaration suivante au sujet du rapport accablant de la commissaire à l’information :
 
« Les libéraux ne sont pas transparents avec les Canadiens, surtout pendant cette pandémie.
 
« Le rapport de la commissaire indique que le système d’accès à l’information était dans un état critique avant la pandémie. Il est peut-être irréparable maintenant. Les libéraux doivent faire mieux avec cet important outil démocratique.
 
« Justin Trudeau n’a cessé de promettre qu’il allait améliorer le système d’accès à l’information. Le fait est qu’il a échoué. Ce n’est qu’un autre exemple des libéraux qui font des promesses, mais qui ne produisent pas de résultats.
 
« Le rapport révèle également un manque de leadership du gouvernement Trudeau avec le système d’accès à l’information. Le manque de leadership des libéraux en matière de transparence n’est pas étonnant.
 
« Le système d’accès à l’information du Canada doit être corrigé de toute urgence. L’amélioration de cet outil clé aidera à améliorer notre démocratie. De plus, cela fera en sorte qu’un plus grand nombre de Canadiens feront confiance à nos systèmes démocratiques. Les conservateurs vont continuer à exiger une transparence des libéraux de Trudeau. »
