Dear Constituents, an update from my office:

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that 2022 is healthy and prosperous for you and your family.

With the House of Commons not set to sit again until January 31st, I’ve spent the past couple of weeks catching up with constituents and community organizations. I am still squarely focused on recovery and rebuilding efforts after last year’s natural disasters, and I remain in contact with municipal and federal officials as well as the numerous community organizations working hard to rebuild.

Vaccination Tax

Quebec Premier Francois Legault recently announced a new tax on adults who refuse to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Frankly, this tax is an affront to personal freedoms and the basic principles of universal healthcare. Should the Trudeau Government move to implement a similar tax federally, I will strongly oppose it.

Home Equity Tax

As you may have heard, Generation Squeeze recently released a report, funded by the Trudeau Liberal Government, that calls for a tax on the sale of any home valued over $1 million. Here in the Lower Mainland, the average cost of a home is over $1 million, meaning this tax would affect the average homeowner, not just wealthy investors. I know for many, property values increased more than 40% in one year according to BC Assessment. For many families, an additional annual tax would be impossible to manage.

I want to hear from you!

While I am personally opposed to both of these proposed taxes, I want to hear your opinion. Click here to let me know how you feel about these proposals.

You’re My Boss

Your feedback is valued.  Please do not hesitate to contact my office to voice your concerns or seek assistance with any federal government programs at 604-814-5710 or [email protected].

Thank you,
