Ottawa, ON – Raquel Dancho, Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Safety, released the following statement in response to new evidence submitted to the Mass Casualty Commission (MCC):
"From the beginning, Minister Bill Blair and RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki mislead Canadians – and they lied to a parliamentary committee.
“The newly released recording of RCMP Commissioner Lucki confirms that the Minister's Office requested that the RCMP release sensitive information about the ongoing investigation into the worst mass killing in our history, and confirmation was given to the Minister this would occur.
“By requesting this information be released to further the Liberal political agenda, the Minister pressured the Commissioner and politically interfered in the RCMP investigation.
“This comes after the Minister and RCMP Commissioner Lucki both tried to cover up this scandal and prevent Canadians from getting to the truth about the Liberal government’s political pressuring of the RCMP to support the government’s political agenda.
“The Minister lied when he said he was not aware the Commissioner would release the sensitive information and he lied when he also said he never asked Commissioner Lucki to reveal that information. Both are now proven false based on the audio recording of the Commissioner.
"Worse yet, the Minister was advised that releasing this information would jeopardise the investigation, and he asked that it be done anyway – he put the government’s political agenda above Canadians, then he lied about it, and that is unforgivable.
“The Minister and the Commissioner lied and violated the independence of the RCMP and jeopardized the investigation into the worst mass killing in Canadian history. We do not have confidence in this Minister to hold any position in this government and he should resign immediately along with RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki.”

Ottawa (Ontario) — Raquel Dancho, ministre du Cabinet fantôme conservateur responsable de la Sécurité publique, a fait la déclaration suivante en réponse aux nouvelles preuves soumises à la Commission des pertes massives :
« Dès le début, le ministre Bill Blair et la commissaire de la GRC Brenda Lucki ont trompé les Canadiens - et ils ont menti à un comité parlementaire.
« L’enregistrement nouvellement publié de la commissaire Lucki confirme que le bureau du ministre a demandé à la GRC de divulguer des informations confidentielles sur l’enquête en cours sur la pire tuerie de notre histoire, et que le ministre a reçu la confirmation que cela se produirait.
« En demandant que ces informations soient divulguées pour servir le programme politique des libéraux, le ministre a fait pression sur la commissaire et s’est ingéré politiquement dans l’enquête de la GRC.
« Cela survient après que le ministre et la commissaire Lucki de la GRC aient tous deux tenté d’étouffer ce scandale et d’empêcher les Canadiens de connaître la vérité sur les pressions politiques exercées par le gouvernement libéral sur la GRC afin d’appuyer le programme politique du gouvernement.
« Le ministre a menti lorsqu’il a dit qu’il ne savait pas que la commissaire allait divulguer des informations confidentielles et il a également menti lorsqu’il a dit qu’il n’avait jamais demandé à la commissaire Lucki de révéler ces informations. L’enregistrement audio de la commissaire prouve que ces deux affirmations sont fausses.
« Pire encore, le ministre a été informé que la divulgation de ces informations compromettrait l’enquête, et il a demandé que cela soit fait quand même — il a fait passer le programme politique du gouvernement avant les intérêts des Canadiens, puis il a menti à ce sujet. C’est impardonnable.
« Le ministre et la commissaire ont menti, violé l’indépendance de la GRC et compromis l’enquête sur la pire tuerie de l’histoire du Canada. Nous n’avons pas confiance en ce ministre pour occuper un quelconque poste au sein de ce gouvernement et il devrait démissionner immédiatement ainsi que la commissaire de la GRC, Brenda Lucki. »
