MP Update - November 23, 2022

Dear Constituents, an update from my office:

In the House

Over the last few weeks, the House has been debating the Fall Economic Statement (FES), tabled by the finance minister on November 3. In the months leading up to this fiscal update, Conservatives called on the government to reduce spending and cancel tax increases that will only put further financial strain on Canadian families. Unfortunately, the FES delivered neither of those things.

Last week, I had the opportunity to speak on Bill C-32: Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2022. I took the time to raise the many concerns I have heard from residents of Mission—Matsqui—Fraser Canyon and small businesses across Canada.

You can view my speech here

Fall Reports of the Auditor General of Canada

Recently, the Fall Reports of the Auditor General of Canada were published. Of particular note were the reports on chronic homelessness and emergency management in First Nations communities. You can find all of the reports here.

You can view my statement in the House on the report on chronic homelessness here.

Remembrance Day 2022

This year I attended the Remembrance Day ceremony in Agassiz. Thank you to the Agassiz Legion and all the volunteers who organized the ceremony and the reception at the legion afterwards. I was very impressed with how veterans were honoured and I appreciated the opportunity to speak with veterans at the reception.

In my last email blast, I failed to mention the ceremony in Mount Lehman. Thank you to the thoughtful constituent who pointed this out and I apologize for the error.
