Ottawa, ON - Late this afternoon, the Hon. Candice Bergen, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, spoke on the phone with Prime Minister Trudeau.

The Prime Minister graciously congratulated Ms. Bergen for her election as Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition.

Ms. Bergen wished the Prime Minister and his family good health and was glad to learn that they are doing better after their recent bout with COVID-19.

Both the Prime Minister and Ms. Bergen agreed that solutions must be found to resolve the ongoing protests in Ottawa.

Ms. Bergen raised the issue of the importance of supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.

Ms. Bergen made it clear the various tax increases planned by the government will have negative impacts on the daily lives of Canadians who are in desperate need of fiscal relief.

Prime Minister Trudeau and Ms. Bergen ended the call by reaffirming the importance of working together on shared priorities on behalf of Canadians.

Ottawa (Ontario) - En fin d’après-midi, l’honorable Candice Bergen, cheffe du Parti conservateur du Canada et de l’Opposition officielle, a discuté au téléphone avec le premier ministre Trudeau. 

Le premier ministre a gracieusement félicité Mme Bergen pour son élection comme cheffe du Parti conservateur du Canada et de l’Opposition officielle. 

Mme Bergen a souhaité une bonne santé au premier ministre et à sa famille. Elle a été heureuse d’apprendre qu’ils se portent mieux après leur récent combat contre la COVID-19. 

Le premier ministre et Mme Bergen ont convenu que des solutions doivent être trouvées pour résoudre les manifestations qui ont lieu à Ottawa.

Mme Bergen a soulevé la question de l’importance de soutenir l’Ukraine contre l’agression russe. 

Mme Bergen a clairement indiqué que les diverses augmentations d’impôt prévues par le gouvernement auront des répercussions négatives sur la vie quotidienne des Canadiens qui ont désespérément besoin d’un allègement fiscal. 

Le premier ministre Trudeau et Mme Bergen ont terminé l’appel en réaffirmant l’importance de travailler ensemble sur des priorités communes au nom des Canadiens.
