Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Erin O’Toole, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives and the Official Opposition, issued a statement calling on Justin Trudeau to extend the deadline for Afghan interpreters and support staff to apply to come to Canada:
“Media are reporting that Afghan interpreters and others that worked with our Canadians heroes in Afghanistan have been given three days to apply to come to Canada.
“While the Trudeau Liberals sat on their hands for weeks and failed to put forward a plan to help these brave Afghans – they are now giving these same individuals three days to save their lives. This is the height of hypocrisy and wrong.
“Canadians and these brave Afghans can’t afford more of this incompetence from Liberals. This artificial date by the Trudeau government must be immediately dropped. Canada’s Conservatives are calling on the Liberal government to do the right and only thing – extend the deadline for these Afghans and their families to apply to come to Canada.
“If you don’t care about supporting those who supported our men and women in Afghanistan, you have three parties to choose from. If you do, you only have one – Canada’s Conservatives.”

Ottawa (Ontario) – L’honorable Erin O’Toole, chef des conservateurs du Canada et de l’Opposition officielle, a fait une déclaration suivante, pressant Justin Trudeau de reporter l’échéance pour les interprètes et le personnel de soutien afghans qui veulent venir au Canada :
« Les médias indiquent que les interprètes afghans et d’autres personnes qui ont travaillé avec nos héros canadiens en Afghanistan ont trois jours pour faire une demande afin de venir au Canada.
« Les libéraux de Trudeau n’ont rien fait pendant des semaines et n’ont pas présenté de plan pour aider ces courageux Afghans – et maintenant, ils leur donnent trois jours pour sauver leur vie. C’est le comble de l’hypocrisie et du mépris.
« Les Canadiens et ces courageux Afghans en ont assez de l’incompétence des libéraux. Cette date artificielle fixée par le gouvernement Trudeau doit être immédiatement annulée. Les conservateurs du Canada pressent le gouvernement libéral de faire la seule chose qui s’impose – reporter l’échéance pour ces Afghans et leurs familles qui veulent venir au Canada.
« Si vous ne voulez pas aider ceux qui ont aidé nos hommes et femmes en uniforme en Afghanistan, vous avez le choix entre trois partis. Si vous le voulez, vous n’en avez qu’un – les conservateurs du Canada. »
