Dear Mission–Matsqui–Abbotsford,
Happy Thanksgiving weekend!
It’s been another busy few weeks flying back and forth between our beautiful riding and our nation’s capital. I’m looking forward to being home this weekend to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends and family.
I get it. With the cost of living rising across Canada, it is getting harder to keep up. So many families are feeling the pressure. If you’re able, please consider donating to a local food bank to help a neighbour in need.
Local Food Banks:
I know these are challenging times, but there is still so much good to be thankful for. Last week, as I walked with my family around beautiful Mill Lake Park in Abbotsford, I was reminded how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful part of Canada.

From my family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving.
Crime and Public Safety
Last week, I raised concerns about the government’s failed justice policies specifically Bills C-5 and C-75, which have led to repeat offenders being released and an increase in violent crime across Canada. The Liberal Member even admitted that their drug policies have been harmful to Canadians.

Economic Growth and Small Business
Canada is facing one of the lowest productivity growth rates in the OECD. I also spoke about how small businesses are struggling under unnecessary red tape, especially within customs programs meant to support them. Canadians deserve a plan that promotes growth and empowers entrepreneurs.

Local Petitions
Petitions are a great way for me to raise issues you care about and get a response from the government. On October 2, I had the opportunity to speak in the House of Commons on two petitions from constituents:
- Calling on the government to halt the expansion of Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).
- Urging the government to reject Recommendation 430 of the pre-budget report, which could punish faith-based charities financially for expressing their beliefs.

Many of you have also written to me about the ostrich culling in British Columbia. My colleague, Mel Arnold, raised this issue directly with the government, asking for answers about why these actions are being taken. This matter is now before the courts, but my office is still working on a petition for those who wish to get involved.

Women’s Rugby World Cup
Before the finals, I rose in the House of Commons to recognize Team Canada’s incredible achievement in reaching the Women’s Rugby World Cup Final, a proud moment for Canadian sport and a testament to the growth of women’s rugby across the country.
Although Canada ultimately fell short in the championship match, our athletes showed outstanding grit, teamwork, and heart on the world stage.
With the Women’s Rugby World Cup set to expand to 16 teams in 2025, the future of the sport and of Canadian women’s rugby looks brighter than ever.

Sushi in Mission!

This week, I stopped by Sushi Te in Mission today. They’ve been thriving under new ownership for the past five months, and it was great to show my support. I was joined by Chief Joseph Chapman from Sq’éwlets First Nation for a delicious lunch and good conversation.
Check them out!
Gun Buyback Survey Results
Thank you to everyone who responded to my survey on the Liberal Government’s Gun Buyback Program. This program will cost taxpayers over $750 million and has yet to confiscate a single firearm since 2020. A small pilot began on September 23, 2025, in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and the full program is expected to roll out across the country this fall. Take a look at the results below!

Additional Feedback Summary
🔹 Overall Sentiment
Roughly 95% of respondents strongly oppose the federal gun buyback program, while only a few expressed limited support for reducing civilian gun ownership or banning “assault-style” weapons.
🔹 Key Themes from Opposition Responses
Respondents overwhelmingly said the program will not reduce crime or improve safety, arguing that criminals using illegal, smuggled guns are the real issue—not licensed, responsible owners. Many called it a colossal waste of taxpayer money and compared it to the failed long-gun registry, urging funds be redirected to border security or policing. The policy was widely viewed as political theatre and government overreach, described as “confiscation” and an attack on law-abiding citizens. Numerous respondents raised concerns about property rights and personal freedoms, with some vowing not to comply.
🔹 Minority Supportive Views
A small number of respondents supported efforts to get guns off the streets or restrict military-style firearms, focusing on public safety rather than the buyback mechanism itself.
🔹 Tone and Emotion
Responses were deeply frustrated and distrustful of the federal government, reflecting anger over perceived overreach and misuse of public funds.
